Monday Morning Musings (on Tuesday)

by Lee on January 26th, 2010

Yes, I know that it is Tuesday and the Monday Morning Musings are a day late. I apologize to the millions of blog readers that were grossly disappointed at my negligence yesterday. All I can say is that stuff happens in churches at certain things must be put to the side…if you get what I mean. Well, without any more rambling, here are my weekend thoughts!

The truly generous is the truly wise, and he who loves no others, lives unblest.  (Henry Home)

- Generosity was our theme this week.  What a great response we had to the generosity cards…So many people wanted more cards that we ran out of cards.  (The response was so good I didn’t even get a card to use this week)

- Love to hear feedback on how the acts of generosity are going in the community!  Leave me a reply letting me know what you did this week as an act of generosity to someone else.  (Remember to “Pay it Forward”)

- Great having the entire band back and rested.  Thanks for doing such a great job every week!!!

- Pastor went a little long this Sunday (lol).  However, the tear down team once again proved themselves by having everything out on-time!  Thanks for your hard work and testimony to the Theater.

- Life Group orientation was awesome on Sunday night.  Looks like we have another Life group getting started!  (PTL)

- Lunch with the Pastors was a lot of fun.  Thanks for coming and showing your interest in HCC.  We were also successful at getting everyone out in time to see some afternoon football.  (Go Colts!)

- Be thinking this week of joining a local HARVEST superbowl party.  If you are interested in hosting we would love to know.  Drop us a line at the office and let us know.

- Blackberry bit the dust this weekend.  After 2 trips to the Verizon store I finally bought the new Droid Eris.  Now it is official…GOOGLE owns me!  (I will drop a review of the new phone later in the week.

- Don’t forget that this week we are having communion and our first Harvest Business meeting.  Hope you can make it!

The Value of Living

by Lee on January 19th, 2010

I have been reading throughout the book of Judges this week. It is a very fascinating book demonstrating the fickleness of humanity towards God. Generation after generation falls apostate towards God and His goodwill. As a result, God does what is necessary to get the attention of His people. Their fickleness got me thinking about my own values or priorities in life. How do I make decisions and how can I stand faithful before my God? In the end, the thing that matters is to stay God-centric in our living or in other words, learn to be Christ-centered people. Here are some of the character traits that I began to think characterize a Christ-centered life. What do you think a Christ-centered life looks like?

- Loving – Steady
- Joyful – Faithful
- Caring – Patient
- Worshipful – Enduring
- Submissive – Prayerful
- Generous – Eternally minded
- Peaceful – Honest

I know that there are many other things we could come up with? Share with me some of you thoughts on what a Christ centered life looks like? Any verses come to mind?
