What it means to be on Mission
Post by Lee Stephenson on July 11th, 2012
One of the greatest privileges of being part of the church is to experience being on mission together. At Harvest we look at “MISSION” as taking the Gospel, the worship of God, and community with each other and sharing it with others.
In Acts 1:8 Jesus proclaimed the mission very clearly..But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”(Acts 1:8 ESV)
Our mission is critical and therefore, we cannot be weak when it comes to carrying it out. Simply put…our mission is to love more people. We do mission because there are people that don’t know God. They have never experienced true/perfected love. We do mission because there are people that are still living far from God and as a result, they are settling for second best in life. My prayer is that you will join us in this mission! Not only will you join us…you will do whatever it takes inorder for us to love more people.
Action Steps:
1. Begin to pray for open doors for you to share what Jesus means to you.
2. Be willing to create friendships with those who don’t exactly share your beliefs or standards.
3. Live out your faith in such a way that you are connecting with people and being able to point them to a connection with God. Do it so they might come to know Jesus as their Savior.
4. Have fun!
